What To Expect
From A Fishing Guide
What to Expect on a Guided Fishing Trip
A perfect day of fishing in North Arkansas begins with the soft light of morning and the cool Ozark breeze greeting you as you step onto the boat. The rivers—whether it’s the White, the Norfork, or another hidden gem—glow in the early light, shifting in silver and blue as the day comes alive. In that moment, the world slows. You’re not just out for fish—you’re here for peace, adventure, and maybe the kind of catch you’ll talk about for years.
Booking with Catching Smiles means more than just a boat ride. From the first cast to the last pull on the oars, Kyle guides you through a thoughtful, relaxing, and exhilarating experience tailored just for you.

What to Bring (and What’s Provided)
All you need is your Arkansas fishing license (with trout stamp), a bit of sunscreen, and the desire to enjoy a day on the water. Kyle takes care of the rest. From rods and reels to lures and even live bait—your gear will be ready and suited for the day’s conditions. Whether you’re chasing giant browns or want to catch a whole mess of rainbows, Kyle has it all prepared.
Before launching, Kyle will go over the plan for the day—adjusted for weather, water levels, and what the fish are doing. New to fishing? Have kids along? No problem. Kyle’s known for his patience and ability to make anglers of all ages and skill levels feel welcome and confident. Young anglers are especially encouraged, with child-sized life vests and plenty of encouragement to help them land their first fish.

On the River: White, Norfork, and Beyond
Whether you’re floating the famed tailwaters of the White River, wading the cool currents of the Norfork, or exploring lake and creek options like Bull Shoals or Crooked Creek, your day is custom-fit to your goals and comfort. Kyle adjusts based on what’s biting and how you like to fish.
Expect to encounter rainbow trout flashing through riffles, big browns hiding in pools, and maybe even a brook or cutthroat if luck’s on your side. Kyle keeps things flexible—changing bait, switching up tactics, and making sure rods stay bent and smiles stay wide.
On full-day trips, a simple, satisfying lunch is provided—often enjoyed along the bank or from the boat as you watch the river roll on by. There’s always time to pause, soak in the scenery, and maybe spot an eagle cruising the treetops.

The Day Is Yours
Every trip with Kyle Haun is designed around you. Whether you’re after a peaceful solo float, a trophy trout on a streamer, or a fun family outing, Kyle paces the day to your preferences. There’s no rush—just good fishing, great company, and a setting that keeps you coming back.
After the Final Cast
As the sun lowers and the last casts are made, you’ll feel the kind of calm tiredness only a full day outdoors can bring. Maybe you’ll grab dinner back in Mountain Home or start planning your next outing before you even leave the boat.
You’ll head home with more than just fish photos—you’ll leave with memories. Stories. The kind that stick with you.
That’s what you can expect from a day on the water with Kyle Haun: expert guidance, easygoing hospitality, and a true North Arkansas experience.
